Donabate, a coastline

26th October 2010
Donabate, a small village north of Dublin on the east coast of Ireland. I lived here many year ago before photography took over my life. And now I go back once a month or so to walk the beach and climb the rocky shoreline.

It has a long beach to the south and a small rocky one to the north which leads you along a cliff path walk to Portrane, another little village. The image above was shot on this path looking south over the Irish sea. You can see Howth head on the horizon and a bank of low clouds covers the complete sky. A clam day as only small ripple on the water not like in the image below which was taken on the beach to the north on a stormy day.

The image above shows the view looking south along the beach towards the Dublin Mountains on a wonderful early morning sunrise. The tide was out which helped the foreground composition of the image. A couple more images showing the rocks and the kind of side lighting I love when shooting the coastline.

You can use the Google Map here to view the coastline in question. Zoom in and have a look.
