New Photography Video Programme Series Announced
PROFESSIONAL landscape photographers Peter Cox and Neil McShane have released the first in a series of photography tutorial videos together with documentary photographer Roger Overall.
“Peter and Neil are two of Ireland’s top landscape photographers and the programme follows them as they plan and then execute a landscape shoot in counties Cork and Kerry in Ireland. The viewer spends a day looking over their shoulder as they take pictures, discuss photography and pass on a variety of tips, information and insight,” says Roger Overall.
Titled “Photographing the Landscape: Cork and Kerry”, the initial release is a 48-minute long pilot for what will become a long-running series of documentary style educational programmes. The next episode is slated for an autumn release.
Peter Cox says, “There is a big demand out there among enthusiasts for programming like this that combines travelogue, photography instruction and professional advice. Neil and I have been shooting companions for years and we’ve built up a relaxed rapport that helps us deliver photographic insight in what we hope the viewer will find an engaging way.”
Known for his striking black and white photographs, Neil McShane says that while video is a new medium to the trio, it is a medium that professional photographers can’t ignore.
“The question is: how do you incorporate it into your business? How do you make this new technology work for you? In our case, the video series allows us to reach out to a target audience while at the same time teaching us a new skill set,” he explains.
Peter Cox and Roger Overall had previously collaborated on Ireland’s first professional photography podcast, called “The Circle of Confusion”. They ended the podcast in February to concentrate on other projects, including the development of the new video series.
